American psychedelic funk trio Khruangbin have announced their fourth studio album, “A La Sala” (“To the Room” in Spanish), which will be out April 5 via Dead Oceans. With “A Love International”, the band has today released the first single from the new album, which is accompanied by a music video directed by Scott Dungate.
“A La Sala, I used to scream it around my house when I was a little girl, to get everybody in the living room; to get my family together. That’s kind of what recording the new album felt like. Emotionally there was a desire to get back to square-one between the three of us, to where we came from – in sonics and in feeling. Let’s get back there”, said bassist Laura Lee Ochoa about the recording of the new album.
Vinyl enthusiasts can expect seven different covers that will adorn the various vinyl editions of “A La Sala”, designed by the band using Marko’s multitude of travelog photos.
“A La Sala” is Khruangbin’s first full album of original material since “Mordechai” in 2020. In 2022, they released joint projects with Vieux Farka Touré (“Ali”) and Leon Bridges (“Texas Moon”). Last year saw the release of live albums recorded at Stubb’s in Austin and the Sydney Opera House.
