Nubiyan Twist, the British jazz/soul ensemble known for their dynamic big band sound and electrifying live performances, announces their new album “Find Your Flame”, which will be released on 3 May 2024 on Strut Records. This announcement coincides with the release of their infectious new single “Lights Out”, featuring iconic songwriter, composer, producer, arranger, and guitarist, Nile Rodgers.
“Lights Out” is a dynamic fusion of disco, jazz, and afrobeat, infused with Nile Rodgers’ signature guitar style, which effortlessly dances between genres. The track exudes an infectious energy, driven by its carefree instrumentation, anthemic horns, and the rousing chorus delivered by the band’s new lead vocalist, Aziza Jaye.
Nubiyan Twist has always embraced collaboration, and their latest record is no exception. Alongside Nile Rodgers, the band has enlisted a diverse array of talented artists from across the globe, including Seun Kuti, Mamani Keita, Corto Alta, Ria Moran, KOG, and NEone the Wonderer. This collaborative spirit is a hallmark of Nubiyan Twist’s creative ethos, enriching their sound with a tapestry of global influences.
Since their formation in 2011 at the Leeds College of Music, the nine-piece ensemble has ascended to the forefront of the UK’s contemporary jazz scene. Their self-titled debut album in 2015, followed by the acclaimed “Jungle Run” in 2019 and the breakthrough “Freedom Fables” in 2021, have solidified their position as one of the most compelling musical acts in the UK.
As anticipation builds for the release of ‘Find Your Flame,’ Nubiyan Twist is gearing up to hit the road once again, embarking on UK and EU tours starting from April, with a headline date at London’s HERE at Outernet.
