The 38-year-old Bay Area-based singer, songwriter, engineer, producer, and band-leader (Monophonics) stands for authentic, handmade soul and follows artists like Lee Fields and the late Sharon Jones and Charles Bradley, who heralded the soul revival at the beginning of the 2000s.
Like them, Finnigan knows that he stands on the shoulders of giants. You can hear influences from Otis Redding, Billy Stewart, Solomon Burke or Booker T Jones in all these songs, which are about love, pain and redemption. It’s unbelievable that this piece of soul art was not recorded in the 60s at the FAME studios in Muscle Shoals. Be sure to listen to this album gem!
