San Diego’s soul sensation, Thee Sacred Souls, have quickly ascended to the top ranks of authentic soul music with their self-titled debut album two years ago. Now, they’re back on the road in Europe, bringing their latest single, “Live For You,” along for the ride. Fans can also look forward to the highly anticipated release of their new album, “Got A Story To Tell,” on October 4th via Daptone Records.
“Live For You” pays homage to the great American R&B of the ’60s and ’70s and the sweet Chicano soul cherished by old-school lowriders. Marvin Gaye would have enjoyed this smooth song. Timeless in its appeal, the song delivers a message of perseverance and self-love. As lead singer Josh Lane explains, “’Live For You’ is permission through song for the listener to engage in a lifelong relationship with themselves. I believe that when we do the work to genuinely love ourselves, we have more capacity to be empathetic towards the world around us.”
“Got A Story To Tell”, the eagerly awaited follow-up to their groundbreaking 2022 debut, features 12 brand new tracks that showcase the band’s evolving sound. Like their debut, the album was recorded and produced by Gabriel Roth at Penrose Recorders, Daptone’s Riverside, California studio.
